Clyde Coastal Path Completed

August 2025 ~77.3 km total 4 walking days

About this route

This record follows the Clyde Coastal Path from Wemyss Bay (continuing on from the Ayrshire Coastal Path) to Port Glasgow, then the Renfrew / Govan spur via Inchinnan and Renfrew to the Riverside Museum (Transport Museum) at Partick. From there the Kelvin Walkway was walked to Milngavie, linking to the West Highland Way and to how the John Muir Way was done (Milngavie station as a start/end point).

That Kelvin link also joins the longer chain of coastal and long-distance routes from the Mull of Galloway and Loch Ryan through Ayrshire to the West Highland Way (and beyond toward the Great Glen and Cape Wrath). The older traditional line over the Erskine Bridge and over the muirs to Milngavie may be walked later; the practical link is already made via the Kelvin Walkway. Next: the Clyde Walkway along the river through Glasgow toward Lanark.

Kelvin Walkway link — completes the spur from the Clyde Coastal Path at the Transport Museum to the West Highland Way at Milngavie (and to the John Muir Way via Milngavie station). The stretch from Milngavie down to Summerston was heavily overgrown with nettles and wet grass — not recommended at the height of the growing season.
